As the Librarian/Tech Coordinator at Skinner Middle School in the Denver Public Schools, I'm putting together a "Core Curriculum Technology Integration Matrix" that matches each of the 6th, 7th and 8th grade core curricular units with possible technology integration lessons, strategies and activities. The matrix includes the school-year timeline and ISTE standards. Based on teachers with whom I collaborate the most, Lang Arts will be completed first, followed by Social Studies, Science and Math. Since we do not have regularly scheduled computer classes or a computer teacher in our building, all technology skills are taught in collaboration with classroom teachers and integrated with core units and lessons. The matrix will serve as a reference for us as we plan together, and as a guide to ensure that our students are getting a wide variety of technology opportunities and skills. When completed, the matrix will be published on our wiki for peer review and comments. We hope that you will find these tools helpful as you plan integrated lessons at your school.
